    Setting: Mainstream Secondary School

    Pay rate: £75 – £90 per day (Depending on experience)

    Working hours: 8:15am – 4:00pm (Term time only)

    Active Recruitment are working closely with a very reputable mainstream Secondary school in East London, who are looking for a Special Needs Teaching Assistant to work with children aged 11 – 16 years old. In this role, you will be working in a specialist provision within a mainstream school with the goal of helping these young students with complex social, emotional & behaviour needs receive the best standard of education possible.

    As an SEN Teaching assistant, you’ll work on a group or one-to-one basis with pupils with additional needs, primarily Autism. Some pupils may be non-verbal so would require communication aids such as PECs or Makaton. This role can be challenging. However, you are part of making a real change to a student’s life – which can be extremely rewarding.

    The successful SEN Teaching Assistant must:

    Have recent experience within a similar role
    Be passionate about working with SEN pupils
    Be able to modify approach depending on pupils individual needs
    Be able to inspire and motive those that need additional support
    Be passionate about making a difference in the lives of young people

    Key responsibilities for your role:

    Working with specific children across key stage 3 and 4 that require extra help and target support, depending on their needs
    Working alongside other professionals to assess children including writing EHCPs
    Working with other teaching staff to design the best strategies to meet a pupil’s needs.
